Van Leeuwen In-Store Menus
We met the Van Leeuwen team in 2014. We began by discussing ways to solve a problem at their stores: The ice cream flavors changed seasonally or often sold out but the original printed menus weren’t flexible and the subsequent chalkboard menus easily became inconsistent. One of the partners was fond of editable pegboard, a UK fabricated adjustable letter board, so we developed an intricate system to fabricate custom menu boards around these stock components. Van Leeuwen now has 24 locations and we’ve designed and produced the custom menu for each one.
Van Leeuwen’s menu boards are made of 3/4” baltic birch plywood. The panels are CNC milled with pockets for embedded pegboard and sprayed black. The header areas are treated with custom brand graphics. Point-to-Point Creative works with the Van Leeuwen team, the architect and the general contractor to design and manufacture the entire menu from concept to completion.
